Bristol Bay Fishing Reports

Jul 30 2021

Week 6 :: July 23 – 30, 2021

You can tell the king run was winding down. Some slower days on the Togiak searching for kings, but we still caught some big ones.  A lot of them were starting to turn red as they got closer to spawning.  Some nice sockeye were beginning to show up on the mighty Tog with the chums and pinks.

The Upper Nush produced awesome Dolly Varden and trout fishing behind some spawning chums. Lake Hops continued to be excellent with some great char and lake trout and unbelievable views. In come the silvers! We’ve seen a couple swimming around, so it’s just a matter of time before the big coho comeback!

Week 4 :: July 9 – 16, 2021

The sunshine arrived…..After weeks of fog, rain and wind we’ve had seven straight days of 65-75 degrees and sun.  High water has retreated on the Togiak and the King fishing has gotten good.  The sockeye run may pass the all time record for Bristol Bay so the swinging for reds continues to produce on the Wak.  Chums and pinks have also been caught.  The Nush is still getting some kings and our camp out there is still going.  Lake hops have  been beautiful with lots of char and dolly being caught.

Week 5 :: July 16 – 23, 2021

The sockeye were still running up the Wak and swinging for socks was good.  The fish house was working overtime to get everyone’s fish vacpacked and frozen.  Some trout were caught nymphing but it should be real good when the sockeye start to spawn.  The Goodnews river fished good as well with some nice kings and chums being caught.  The Togiak was a bit slow.  We got a few kings and chums and even some pinks but ya really had to work for it.  Lake hops were solid with good numbers of lake trout and char being hooked.  The Nush camp was taken down and hauled back to the lodge.  We all thought it was a pretty good year out there despite the slow start and bag limits being cut in half there were some nice days catching Kings.

Week 3 :: July 2 – 9, 2021

Make some room in the Freezer!!  The sockeye are coming home. The Nush was very good this week with folks getting to double dip with kings and sockeye pushing up the river.  The weather still gave us some challenges with rain and fog.  Some very cold wet days on the river but battling big kings is a great way to stay warm.

The Togiak water level is still real high and the fish are spread out so ya gotta earn out there but some nice kings have been caught.  With  nice weather coming up this week the Tog should really turn on.  The Wak sockeye fishing is great along with some rainbows starting to bite.  The char bite at the mouth of the Wak is also good.

 So we’re making it happen! Happy guests are going home with some of the worlds finest salmon fishing from Bristol Bay…. We are looking forward to week 4……..

Week 2 :: June 25 – July 2, 2021

Bad weather brought the fish.  The Nush was on fire for most of the week.  Lots of kings and sockeye made their way up river and rods were bent all day long.  The sockeye also pumped up the Wood river and the Wak fishing was primo.  After a long morning fog delay the sun came out and the Wak was in top form.  The Togiak was blown out and over the banks after the storm. We were able to find a few kings and jacks but overall it was slow fishing.  The Tog needs a little more time but should be great fishing soon.
