2021 Season

Jun 25 2021

Week 1 :: June 18 – 25, 2021

Well is started pretty rough…the king fishing on the Nush was extremely slow.  The first few days out there were filled with yawns.  We did have some great lake hops and some big rainbows were caught on the Igushik.  Toigiak fishing was better but still not quite there.  Then came the storm that we needed, high winds and some heavy rain.  It was bad enough that we had a rain day but we took advantage of that and had a cornhole tournament in the shop which was lots of fun and some of the matches were real heaters.

The morning after the storm the sockeye arrived and were rolling all around the dock.  Half the lodge went down the Wood river and everyone got their fish.  Sockeye also poured in the Nush along with a bunch of kings so a great day was had by all.  Thank you mother nature for the terrible weather!!  It was a roller coaster week but we had the Mack Chase group here and they are a great group of guys and everyone left with a smile on their face.

WEEK 0 :: SETUP CONTINUED, 2021

It’s here….opening day!  It’s derby weekend on the Nushagak and Mission Lodge hosted the party of course.  Lots of prep and hard work was needed to get this event going now all we need are some Kings to head up river.

Our first fishermen have arrived and are pumped to hit the water. Down trolling, back-bouncing, back trolling, drifting….whatever it takes to get some kings.  Any rod could pull in the Derby winner.  The Togiak was also set up last week.  Boats cleaned, motors flown out, stickers applied.  The water is at a good level and we all excited for another great season on the Tog.  Also, we got a pile of Halibut yesterday and a small team was assembled to fillet and prep them for our weekly dinner entrée.

Hello Mission Family!

2021 Season is upon us and we are busy getting ready to go.

We have gotten the Nush King camp gear all sorted out and loaded into boats and the guides took off today driving down the Wood river and up the Nush to set up camp.  There is still some snow up in the mountains and the water in the lake is primed for the sockeye to return.

We have a new plane this year to add to the fleet and it’s a beautiful orange bird.  The whole crew is here along with 10 dogs so bring your shit kickers.  Its gonna be a great year at Mission and we ready to see all our friends again and do what we do best……FISH!

See you soon…..

In Loving Memory of Bob Chittenden

Dear friends and family of Mission Lodge,

My name is Riley Price. My grandfather was Bob (Robert) Chittenden.
I wanted to write to you and say that Bob died on April 12th, 2021. Thank you so much for making such a wonderful impact in his life. Staying at your fishing lodge and spending time fishing with all of the crew and yearly returning guests was one of his favorite things to do. He always looked forward to his trips. Each and every one of you treated him with such kindness and admiration, and I cannot thank you enough.

The one time I was able to make a trip up with him is something I will always hold dear. I have never seen him as happy and enthusiastic as when he and I were able to go to Mission Lodge together in 2017. You all made his life so truly wonderful. I hope to one day return and fish with you all to honor my grandfather’s memory.

I hope you all are doing wonderfully and wish you a fantastic 2021 fishing season!

Many thanks,
– Riley Price & the family of Bob Chittenden
